LAĐ LI / LADJ LY
Ladj Ly (Paris, 1980) landed in 2017 a Best Short Film César nomination for Les Misérables (2017). Two years later he released his first feature film, Les Misérables (2019), based on said short, at the Festival de Cannes, where he won the Jury Prize. The movie was also nominated for the Academy Award, the BAFTA and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film, landed 4 Césars, and the Goya for Best European Feature Film, among other accolades. Les Indésirables (2023) his second full-length movie, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival.
