The Accompanist

When nine-year-old Emily accidentally reveals to the school nurse that her grandfather, who suffers from dementia, nearly caused a life-threatening accident, an inexperienced social worker is sent to their home to investigate. What follows is a clumsily handled child removal, during which Emily is quickly taken from her grandfather’s home and placed with Sylvia, a foster caregiver.

Sylvia is mysterious, somewhat witch-like, funny, and unpredictable. As Emily and Sylvia grow closer, their worlds, dreams, and visions begin to intertwine.
