Lubo is a nomad, a busker who in 1939 is called up to the Swiss army to defend the country’s borders against of a German invasion. Shortly afterward he finds out that his wife has died in the attempt to stop the gendarmes from taking away their three small children. Lubo knows that he will never have peace until he gets his children back and gets justice for all outsiders like himself.

Giorgio Diritti (Bologna,1959) is an Italian director, screenwriter, and producer. His first feature, The Wind Blows Round (2005), traveled to more than 60 festivals, winning more than 40 awards. The release of the film in Italy is one of the most long-lasting of recent times, as the film was available in Italian cinemas for more than 18 months. His film There Will Come A Day (2013) was entered in the Sundance Film Festival. Hidden Away (2020) was presented at the Berlin Film Festival, where won the Silver Bear for Best Actor. The film later won six David di Donatello Awards, including Best Film and Best Director. His latest feature, Lubo (2023), was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.
