Slavica Bogdanov is a film producer, award-winning screenwriter, seven-time international bestselling author and entrepreneur whose career spans film production, financing, publishing, media, and international business across North America and Europe.
Her first produced feature film was a $4.5 million international production starring Mickey Rourke, Denise Richards, William Baldwin, and Dean Cain. The film secured worldwide distribution, establishing the foundation for her continued work in independent film production, packaging and financing.
As a screenwriter, Slavica Bogdanov has received 34 international screenplay awards and recognitions, including semifinalist placement at an Academy Award-qualifying festival. She is currently developing a slate of international feature films, including Irena’s Children, with two-time Academy Award-nominated director Roland Joffé attached to direct, as well as projects involving internationally recognized talent.
In 2022, Slavica Bogdanov was invited to speak at the Monaco Streaming Film Festival, where she presented alternative and out-of-the-box approaches to independent film financing. Through 523 Productions, her production company in France, she works across European and international production, connecting projects with producers, crews, locations, service providers and cross-border production opportunities.
Her career outside film has been equally international. For more than 25 years, she has worked as an entrepreneur and strategic growth consultant, advising more than 1,000 individuals and companies on business development, profitability, growth, and strategy. Her entrepreneurial career began in the 1990s, including the independent launch and rapid growth of Femina magazine in Canada.
Slavica Bogdanov has also written more than a dozen books on film production and financing. She is a seven-time international bestselling author, with more than 100,000 books sold worldwide during the last 13 years.
She is the founder of Empowering Entertainment, an expanding entertainment ecosystem encompassing film, publishing, digital media, interactive games, and original intellectual property. She also founded Film Funding 101, through which she shares the practical film-financing and producing knowledge developed throughout her career.
Her work increasingly explores the intersection between storytelling, technology, audience engagement and the expansion of intellectual property across multiple forms of entertainment, from feature films and books to games, streaming, and interactive experiences.
